Foxconn's recently announced $10B deal with Wisconsin's Gov. Scott Walker elicited criticism from many, including Ohio Gov. John Kasich. As Midwest states competed to land a Foxconn electronics manufacturing facility and up to 10,000 jobs, Steve Weitzner was quoted by several publications. Silverlode participated in a study to measure the economic and fiscal impacts of a proposed concert pavilion in Elgin, Illinois. The pavilion would be a adjacent to Elgin's Grand Victoria Casino and would be a collaborative effort with the City of Elgin.
We recently helped a client in Troy Ohio figure out what to do with an 11-acre, former manufacturing site near their downtown. We recommended a medical and office development based on our highest and best use and economic impact studies. We also provided a vision for how the organization could focus marketing and redevelopment efforts. And they listened! The property was rezoned and sold to a health system. Kettering Health Network announced it will build a new hospital at the base of downtown Troy where Hobart once stood. The $60 million project will create an estimated 120 jobs.
